Navy: school ship Amerigo Vespucci parked in Portsmouth from 24 to 27 August

Today the Navy Vessel School Amerigo Vespucci has landed in the port of Portsmouth (United Kingdom) where it will stop until 27 August for the fifth stage of the 2018 Education Campaign.

Nave Vespucci lands again in the United Kingdom six years later, when in the 2012 the prestigious sailing ship paid tribute to the city of London during the Olympic Games. The stop is also a precious opportunity to meet the Italian community that lives here and works.

On board of the "most beautiful ship in the world" the 124 students of the Naval Academy of Livorno have alternated at the beginning of July the Volunteers students in Ferma Prefissata Quadriennale (VFP4) of the Non-commissioned School of La Maddalena. In the coming months will be the ambassadors of Italian excellence and the prestige of the Armed Forces of our country for the world through participation in cultural and promotional events, in collaboration with the national diplomatic representations of the countries subject to stop.

The training campaign aboard Nave Vespucci represents a key element in the training of the personnel of the Navy which is in fact engaged in numerous educational and training activities in the field of maritime disciplines and ethical-military training, in order to take ownership of values of loyalty, discipline and sense of duty and acquire the importance of teamwork, which characterizes each sailor in the performance of the tasks of the armed force serving the community.

The choice as a training unit of Nave Vespucci, a sailing ship that today is equipped with modern systems, is the right combination that binds the traditions of the Navy to modern technology and this allows the personnel in training on board to learn how to operate at the same time both with the techniques used in the past and with those used today on the units of the Naval Squad, where they will be used in the future.

Among other things, the use of a sailing unit such as Vespucci in the Education Campaign is evidence of the strong attention and sensitivity that the Navy places on environmental issues and the importance of spreading a marine education aimed at respect, protection and enhancement of the sea as a resource.

After Portsmouth, the school ship of the Italian Navy will reach La Rochelle, in France, where it will stop by the 31 in August at the 3 in September.
