Destroyer Durand de la Penne stopping in Accra-Tema (Ghana)

today Destroyer Luigi Durand de la Penne of the Navy arrived in the port of Accra-Tema (Ghana), where he will stop until the next 2 September 2018.

This is the fifth stage of the 2018 Education Campaign which sees 123 2nd class students on board of the Naval Academy to continue his career path, started last year on board the Amerigo Vespucci school ship. For the first time, the students face and live a strictly operational boarding experience that, in addition to the aspects of exercise and knowledge that will characterize their future activity, reinforces the founding values of the Italian Navy.

The training Campaign, in addition to training, ensures presence, surveillance and naval diplomacy in areas that are not often affected by the activities of the Navy units such as the Gulf of Guinea.

The Durand de la Penne ship left Taranto on 23 July and, after the Ghanaian port of call, will continue sailing towards Casablanca (Morocco). During the stops in port, events are planned that favor the proximity of the crew and the students themselves with the realities of the countries visited, to also promote mutual knowledge with the representatives of the authorities and the local armed forces.
