Scams online, the Postal Police launches an alarm: Beware of illicit withdrawals from your checking account

A series of complaints prompted the Postal Police to launch an alarm for anomalous withdrawals made on current accounts.

"In recent days there are numerous reports of a 'new' fraud that is affecting unsuspecting current account holders through SEPA provisions, ie a charge following a direct bank account with RID (direct debit request), apparently requested by the holder of the account itself, but actually authorized with personal data stolen with fraudulent methods.

The RID is the most convenient tool for payments to be made periodically against the provision of the most common services (eg gas, water, telephone, etc.). "

The Postal Police advises to constantly monitor bank transactions as the charges are small and can be avoided.

"The amount charged fraudulently without the user's authorization is small, and could escape an unintended eye. In fact, it is a sum that exits the current account equal to 19,90 Euro.

Experts from the Postal and Communications Police of the Venice Compartment advise, to avoid this type of fraud, to frequently check the list of movements in their current account, which is now made much easier thanks to the home banking services.

Once an illicit subtraction has been verified, the Postal Police advises to immediately inform your credit institution and proceed with the request of "recall" of the sum unlawfully removed and immediately revoke the RID ".
