The Head of the Presidency Council of the Libyan Government of National Unity Fayez al-Sarraj meets Eni's CEO Claudio Descalzi

The Head of the Presidency Council of the Libyan Government of National Unity, Fayez al-Sarraj, met today in Tripoli with Eni's Chief Executive Officer, Claudio Descalzi.

During the meeting, which took place in the presence of the Italian Ambassador in Libya, Giuseppe Perrone, Eni's CEO took stock of Eni's current activities in the country, also in light of the recent start-up of the Bahr Essalam project 2 phase, which completes the development of the largest gas field in production in the Libyan offshore. Eni is the main supplier of gas to the local market, doubling in the last four years, with 20 million cubic meters a day destined entirely to power the country's power plants for an energy generation capacity of over 3 GW.

The parties also discussed future exploration opportunities and development investments that will further consolidate the relationship between Eni and the country, which dates back to 1959. Finally, the CEO of Eni illustrated to Fayez al-Sarraj the status of social and sustainability projects currently underway in Libya related to health and access to drinking water, for a total value of 25 million dollars.

Eni is the largest international producer of hydrocarbons in Libya, where it currently produces over 320.000 barrels of equivalent oil per day.
