One step away from the unblocking of Ukrainian wheat

Russia and Ukraine agree to create a coordination center in Istanbul on the corridors for the export of grain from Ukraine to the Black Sea.

This was stated by the Turkish Defense Minister, Hulusi Akar, as reported by Anadolu, speaking of the meeting held yesterday in Istanbul between military delegations from Kiev, Moscow, Ankara and UN representatives.

"In the coming weeks, delegations from Ukraine and Russia will meet again in Turkey, all details will be examined and the work done signed " Akar said.

According to Akar, during the meeting it was reached "a consensus on joint controls at the ports of departure and destination and on the safety of ships along the transfer routes ". Furthermore, next week the Ukrainian and Russian delegations will meet again in Turkey and "all the details will be examined and the work done will be signed ".

"The agreement reached in Istanbul is "an important step" to combat the food emergency and "I hope" that the "final" agreement can be signed next week, declared the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, commenting on the outcome of the wheat export talks.

"Today's meeting highlighted the" good will "of both parties and I am" optimistic "that an agreement on wheat can be reached", continued Guterres, according to whom the talks have shown that succeeded e Ukrainians, if they want, they can have a "Constructive dialogue". But, frankly speaking, the UN secretary general stressed that the agreement does not open concrete prospects in view of a peace agreement, for which - he concluded - "much work remains to be done".
