Aeronautics: crew of the 15 ° Stormo in action also on the last day of the year

In the late afternoon today, Tuesday 31 December, a crew of the83 ° CSAR Center (Combat Search and Rescue) in national alertness took off from Cervia airport, home of the 15 ° Stormo, aboard an HH-139A helicopter to assist two hikers in difficulty in an inaccessible area in the localityBolognola pintura, in the province of Macerata.

The crew received the mission order from the Operations Room of the Rescue Coordination Center (RCC) ofItalian Air Operation Center of Poggio Renatico (FE), took off around 15:00 to reach the intervention area. On board also specialized staff of the National Speleological and Alpine Rescue Corps of Macerata. Once in the operation area and identified the hikers in difficulty, the crew recovered using the winch and a special basket of two people and their dog.

After the intervention, the helicopter returned to Cervia and resumed the normal national SAR alertness.

The 83rd Group, together with the other SAR Centers located at the airports of Pratica di Mare (RM), Gioia del Colle, Trapani and Decimomannu (CA), guarantees 24 hours a day, 24 days a year, the research and the rescue of flight crews of troubled military aircraft. The flight unit also contributes to public utility activities such as the search for missing persons at sea or in the mountains, the emergency medical transport of life-threatening patients and the rescue of serious traumatized patients.
The 15th Wing, from its establishment to today, has saved over 7.200 people in danger of life.
