Thus in a note the Deputy of the League Raffaele Volpi a member of Copasir, of which he was president, commented on the Afghan defeat: "The dramatic evolution of the Afghan question recalls the need for an overall assessment of the international posture of our country and the West. Foreign policy in Italy finds its space for debate in the parliamentary halls limited to contingent issues and the discussion on military missions. The evolution of international organizations and their institutional and strategic scope, energy security, migration, terrorism, geopolitical choices even in the face of the increasingly pressing and complex influencing actions of global powers deserve an overall strategic reflection within of Parliament. Italy must regain awareness of the importance of its role in the international chessboard by measuring itself concretely as a protagonist in a complex geopolitical scenario but in which there is a need and possibility of positive leadership in our country. A parliamentary session that allows a broad, in-depth discussion with a sense of perspective and direction would give greater strength to our country within an international framework that sees us as natural protagonists in strategic quadrants. Strategic reflection is immediately needed with the contribution of the whole Parliament to determine a lasting and concrete posture in the bed of consolidated Western values and in the national interestnal ".
