US intelligence agencies sound national security alarm: "Don't buy Chinese smartphones"

US intelligence agencies warn Americans not to buy Chinese-made smartphones, such as Huawei and ZTE branded ones. The alarm was raised by the head of the FBI, Chris Wray, who during a hearing before the Intelligence Committee of the US Senate, CIA, FBI and NSA, stressed how dangerous it is to allow companies, "controlled by foreign governments ”, to enter the telecommunications infrastructures of the United States of America, indicating, in this regard, how these Chinese smartphones represent a real risk for national security.
In the past, the Washington government had prevented Huawei from selling technologies to federal agencies. In this regard, FBI chief Chris Wray commented "It would allow them to modify or steal information and would allow them to spy without getting caught."
