Agreement on nuclear power, Macron is confirmed mediator between Iran and the United States

Abbas Araghchi, Iran's deputy foreign minister, will arrive today in France at the head of an Iranian economic delegation to discuss the measures to be taken in an attempt to save the nuclear agreement signed in the 2015 and to guarantee naval security in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.

This confirms once again the important role that Emmanuel Macron, French president, intends to take in mediation between Iran and the United States.

The visit comes after a new telephone conversation last Saturday between Iranian President Hassan Rohani and French President Emmanuel Macron who, in recent days, during the G7, had already met with Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

The Islamic Republic has made it known that, if the European partners do not guarantee adequate economic incentives to compensate for the heavy effects of the American sanctions on its economy, it is ready to undertake a third phase of disengagement from the agreement starting from Friday, the expiry of the new ultimatum of 60 days.

Tehran's specific goal is to be able to resume the export of Iranian oil, which is the main source of revenue for the country.
