Air rescue: Air Force crew in action to recover a 36-year-old woman

The woman was identified in Castiadas in southern Sardinia and transferred to the San Marcellino di Muravera hospital

In the morning of today, Sunday 2 August, a crew of the 80 ° CSAR Center (Combat Search and Rescue) of the 15 ° Stormo, in national alertness, took off from Decimomannu airport, aboard an HH- 212 to help a woman missing in Castiadas in southern Sardinia.

The crew, having received the mission order from the Operations Room of the Rescue Coordination Center (RCC) of the Italian Air Operation Center in Poggio Renatico (FE), took off in the morning to reach the intervention area. On board also specialized personnel of the National Corps of Alpine and Speleological Rescue (CNSAS) Sardinia. Once in the operation area, the crew identified the woman in difficulty, who was joined by the Carabinieri, CNSAS and volunteers who entrusted her to 118 to be transferred to the San Marcellino hospital in Muravera.

After the intervention, the helicopter returned to Decimomannu and resumed the normal national SAR alertness.

The 80th CSAR Center is one of the Departments of the 15th Wing of the Italian Air Force which guarantees, 24 hours a day, 24 days a year, without interruption, the search and rescue of flight crews in difficulty, competing moreover, to activities of public utility such as the search for missing persons at sea or in the mountains, the emergency medical transport of patients in danger of life and the rescue of seriously traumatized patients, also operating in marginal weather conditions. From its constitution to today, the crews of the 365 ° Stormo have saved more than 15 people in danger of life or in conditions of serious difficulty.
