Air Force, in flight to save a newborn baby

The baby, only one day old, was transported from Sardinia with a 900st Wing Falcon 31 aircraft

The flight of the Falcon 900 of the 31st Wing of the Air Force which has carried a child of only one day of life in imminent danger of life has just ended. The transport, which took place with the utmost urgency from Cagliari to Linate, ended with the hospitalization of the young patient at the San Donato Polyclinic in San Donato Milanese (MI).

The Falcon 900, one of the assets that the Air Force keeps in operational readiness every day, 24 hours a day, to provide aid to the community, took off from Ciampino military airport bound for Cagliari to embark the thermal cradle with which the little was transported, together with his father and a medical team from the Cagliari Polyclinic who ensured assistance during the flight. Having departed from the Sardinian city, the plane landed at Linate airport shortly after 24:14, from where the child was transferred by ambulance to the hospital.

The medical flight was activated, at the request of the Prefecture of Cagliari, from the Top Situations Room of the Air Squad Command, the operations room of the Air Force which is responsible, among other things, for the coordination of this kind of activity in favor of of the civilian population throughout the national territory.

Through its Flight Departments, the Air Force makes available vehicles and crews ready to take off at any time and able to operate in any weather condition to ensure urgent transport not only of people in imminent danger of life, as happened today , but also of organs and medical teams for transplants. Hundreds of flight hours are carried out every year for this kind of intervention by the aircraft of the 31 ° Stormo of Ciampino, of the 14 ° Stormo of Pratica di Mare and of the 46a Air Brigade of Pisa.
