The fourteen year old in imminent danger of life was hospitalized at the Gaslini Pediatric Hospital in GenoVa

The mission of the Falcon 50 of the 31st Wing of the Air Force took place yesterday evening, which transported a 14-year-old boy in imminent danger of life from the airport of Alghero to that of Genoa.

The request for an immediate transfer from the Sassari Stroke Unit to the Giannina Gaslini Pediatric Hospital in Genoa was made by the Prefecture of Sassari to the Top Situations Room of the Air Squad Command, the operations room of the Air Force which has among its tasks to organize and manage this kind of transport throughout the national territory.

The young patient was boarded at the Alghero airport together with one of the parents and the medical team. Once they landed at the Genoa airport, the auto-bomb was waiting for them to complete the transfer to the Ligurian pediatric hospital.

Through its Flight Departments, the Air Force provides vehicles and crews ready to take off at any time and able to operate even in marginal weather conditions to ensure the urgent transport not only of people in imminent danger of life, as happened today, but also of organs and medical teams for transplants. Hundreds of flight hours are carried out every year for this type of intervention by the aircraft of the 31st Wing of Ciampino, the 14th Wing of Pratica di Mare and the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa.
