Aeronautica Militare: urgent flight from Brindisi to Rome for a girl in danger of life

The medical transport was carried out with a Falcon 900 of the 31st Wing of the Italian Air Force

In the early afternoon of yesterday, Saturday 30 January, a 15-year-old girl, hospitalized at the "Vito Fazzi" Hospital in Lecce, was urgently transported from Brindisi airport to Ciampino, aboard a Falcon aircraft. 900 of the 31 ° Stormo di Ciampino. The very young patient was boarded on the military aircraft under the constant supervision of a specialized medical team.

The request for transport, as expected in these cases, was received by the Prefecture of Lecce at the Top Situation Room of the Air Squad Command, the operations room of the Air Force which has among its tasks that of arranging and managing this type of missions through the activation of one of the aircraft that the Armed Force keeps ready 24 hours a day, in various bases, for this kind of need.

After landing in Ciampino, which took place at about 14:45 after just over an hour of flight, the girl was quickly transferred by ambulance to be admitted to the “Bambino Gesù” Hospital.

This type of mission requires maximum timeliness. The Air Force Flight Departments are available to the community 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with assets and crews able to operate, even in difficult weather conditions, to ensure the urgent transport not only of people in imminent danger to life, but also to organs, medical teams or ambulances.
