The Eni gas and light project in schools is starting to raise awareness among young people of a more conscious use of energy

Raise awareness among students to make more efficient and sustainable use of energy. This is the goal of the project started by Eni gas and light in collaboration with Eniscuola, in various primary and secondary schools in Rome and Milan, which provides a series of innovative educational activities for children and young people. Specifically, the project is divided into two initiatives: "+ control, - consumption", Dedicated to primary schools, and"Sustainable technologies and energy for the school”, Intended for higher education institutions.

The initiative "+ control, - consumption"Educational robotics aims to raise awareness among the new generations on sustainability issues and to promote better and more conscious use of energy. The initiative involves 180 students, among the 7 and 10 years, of primary institutions Daniele Manin, Levi Montalcini e Alessandro Manzoni of Rome, for a total of six classes. The project involves the training of the teachers involved and a cycle of 3 meetings in each class, held by experts in the sector, with the aim of creating robotic prototypes designed according to criteria for optimizing performance and reducing energy consumption. The classes will work in groups from 4 / 6 children. Each group will receive a kit consisting of an Arduino board, breadboard, LEDs and sensors to be mounted and programmed, with no pre-defined patterns or templates to follow. Children will thus be able to create their own prototypes, ranging with imagination and understanding the working mechanisms.

Thanks also to the support of experts, the initiative "+ control, - consumption”Recounts energy efficiency through creative robotics and coding: an unconventional, versatile, innovative and engaging method of learning, based on the concept of edutainment or educating by playing.

Aimed at Milanese high school students and with the involvement, in addition to Eniscuola, of the Eni Enrico Mattei Foundation, the second initiative "Sustainable technologies and energy for the school”Of Eni gas and light aims to involve high school students on the subject of sustainable energy efficiency and correct energy management. Two industrial technical institutes participate in the initiative: the Feltrinelli ITIS of Milan andITIS Mattei of San Donato Milanese. The classes involved will be asked to collect, analyze and interpret data relating to the energy consumption of their school buildings. The analysis of this data will allow children to create a relationship between the use of available resources and habits within the educational spaces, identifying any inefficiencies. It will thus be possible to build strategies and new behaviors aimed at minimizing these inefficiencies. The initiative will end at the end of May with a final event during which the two Milanese schools involved will share their experience, the data collected and the results obtained.

Students who have distinguished themselves in both initiatives "+ control, - consumption"and "Sustainable technologies and energy for the school"Will be rewarded in recognition of their commitment.

Through this project aimed at the students of the schools of Rome and Milan, Eni gas and light's desire to help people, starting from the very youngest, to make more conscious use of energy, to use less and use it better is reconfirmed.
