Fragile pupils, Azzolina signs Ordinance to guarantee their right to study

The Minister of Education Lucia Azzolina has signed the Ordinance that defines the methods of carrying out educational activities for fragile pupils, that is, students with serious or immunosuppressed diseases - with particular attention to the latter - who would be exposed to a particularly high risk of contagion by attending classes face to face. The Ordinance passed to the scrutiny of the Superior Council of Public Education.

The Ordinance aims to protect, at the same time, the right to study and the right to health of these pupils: schools will be able to use integrated digital teaching or home education for fragile students. In cases of serious disability associated with certified frailty, in which it is necessary to guarantee the presence of the pupil in the classroom due to particular emotional situations, schools may adopt suitable organizational forms to allow, even periodically, the attendance of lessons.

These measures will be applied using the teachers already assigned to the class to which they belong and guaranteeing, in any case, face-to-face teaching for students with disabilities who do not fall within the category of frail students.
