On Saturday 5 October the doors of the historic buildings of banks operating in Italy and of banking foundations reopen to the public, thanks to the XVIII edition of Invito a Palazzo, the event promoted by the ABI that every year, for a whole day, puts into shows works of art and masterpieces preserved in the historic and modern offices of the banks, of the foundations of banking origin and of the Bank of Italy.

The event takes place under the High Patronage of the President of the Italian Republic and is sponsored by the Italian National Commission for UNESCO and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities.

Making accessible places that are preserved with cultural sensitivities and civil and social passion even when it would be economically more convenient to abandon the "historic" offices and move into new ones. This 5 October initiative represents an opportunity to enhance a significant historical and artistic heritage. "

Getting our communities to know this heritage up close is the main way to preserve it, enhance it and hand it over intact to future generations. For the past eighteen years Invito a Palazzo has successfully carried out this dissemination work. "

THE XVIII EDITION: BEN 5 HISTORICAL PALACES "ON SHOW" FOR THE FIRST TIME

At this year's event 100 palaces participate, including the headquarters of the Bank of Italy in Rome (Palazzo Koch), 70 of 24 banks, and 30 of 30 foundations of banking origin in 62 cities throughout the national territory. 5 the venues "on display" for the first time, which represent an absolute novelty for visitors.

With Invito a Palazzo, tens of thousands of visitors will be able to access the extraordinary artistic and architectural heritages, the furnishings and works of art of every age, guarded and protected by the Italian banks in their offices, normally closed to the public as a place of work, and from foundations of banking origins.

For the third consecutive year, Banks and Foundations will organize guided tours that will be illustrated by young school students who will challenge themselves as guides to tell visitors the history of the architecture of historic and modern buildings, from Renaissance to Baroque to contemporary ones. The initiative "Guide for a day", is a cultural project, supported with the help of the USR - Regional school offices - as part of the MIUR School-Work Alternation Project, which aims to spread art among children of schools.

Finally, for the seventh consecutive year, the Banks and Foundations have decided to contribute to stimulating the creativity of the students of the Academies of Fine Arts and Design Institutes through the competition for the realization of the guide image of the XVIII edition of Invitation to Palazzo. This year, the assembled Jury declared the Carrara Academy of Fine Arts winner.
