Single universal allowance: in the first half of 2022 applications were received for 9,1 million children

The first Statistical Observatory on the Single Universal Check (AUU) will be released today, which reports the data relating to the AUU applications presented in period January-May 2022 and payments relating to the quarter of competence March-May 2022 .

The Observatory provides an overview of essential statistical information on the beneficiaries of the measure and on their economic values. The published calculations are based on the applications sent to the Institute by the citizen, by the patronages and through the Contact Center. The data relating to the AUU provided to the beneficiaries of Citizenship Income will be included in the Observatory once the statistical integration of the sources has been completed.

As highlighted in the Observatory, in the first five months of 2022 the Institute received 5,2 million AUU applications, referable to 8,4 million children. Also considering the applications submitted in June, in the first half of 2022 the Institute received 5,7 million single allowance applications for approximately 9,1 million children overall.

The Observatory highlights the territorial differences in terms of regional take-up with respect to the number of ISTAT residents under the age of 21: including in the data relating to the applications presented also minors from households that receive the Citizenship Income, the regions with the highest takes are those of the South (Calabria and Sicily reach 89%), while the lowest take-ups are recorded in the Center and North (the minimum value of 73% is found in Liguria).

With regard to the amounts disbursed in the first quarter pertaining to the AUU, in average monthly terms, checks for more than € 1 billion per month were paid to approximately 4,7 million applicants with an average reference to 7,5 million children at month.

In the first quarter of competence, the average monthly amount per applicant was equal to € 232 and was paid on average for 1,6 children for each applicant, while the amount for each child was, again on average, 144 €.

About 45% of the paid children belong to households with an ISEE of less than € 15.000, and therefore receive the maximum benefit, while more than 20% of the children belong to families that have not presented ISEE and therefore receive the minimum amount.

With reference to payments for the month of May, the average amount per child ranges from about € 50, for those who do not present ISEE or exceed € 40.000, to just over € 190 for classes of ISEE up to € 15.000. In May, the concentration of the highest amounts occurs in the South (the maximum value of € 168 for each child is recorded in Calabria) while the least significant amounts are recorded in the Center and in the North (the minimum value is recorded in Liguria and Valle d'Aosta where for each child there is an average monthly amount of € 135 per child).
