At the start of the #Ricuciamo project, 320 prisoners will produce bollate masks, Rebibbia and Salerno

Surgical masks to combat Coronavirus will be produced in prisons. Part #Ricuciamo, the work inclusion project of the Ministry of Justice and the Extraordinary Commissioner for the Covid-19 emergency, Domenico Arcuri. 320 prisoners are involved in the 3 penitentiary institutes of Bollate, Rebibbia and Salerno.

The first 2 industrial machines of the 8 - thanks to which the prisoners will be able to produce personal protective equipment - arrived at the II prison house in Milan - Bollate prison. In the start-up phase 400.000 surgical masks will be produced per day which, at full capacity, may reach 800.000.

The devices produced in the district houses will be primarily intended for prisoners and prison staff, the surplus will be used by the Extraordinary Commissioner for distribution on the national territory.

A concrete response to the need for individual protection devices of those who live daily in prisons, with an important social impact in terms of training and employment of prisoners, who become the protagonists of a work inclusion project.
