Aeronautica Militare: emergency transport from Cagliari to Rome for newborns in danger of life

Similar to the emergency transport carried out yesterday, even today the 50 Falcon of the 31 ° Stormo dell'Aeronautica Militare, landed from a few minutes on the Rome Ciampino airport, transported a newborn baby in imminent danger of life from Cagliari. The child, in need of being transferred as soon as possible to the Bambino Gesù Hospital in Rome for specialized care, traveled in a thermal cradle, assisted during the trip by a medical team.

The request for transportation had started from the Prefecture of Cagliari to the Situation Room of the Summit of the Air Squad Command, the Armed Forces operational room that deals - among others - with the coordination and management of this kind of missions in favor of the community.

Missions of this type need maximum timeliness. Through its Flight Departments, the Air Force provides vehicles and crews ready to take off at any time and able to operate in any meteorological condition to ensure the urgent transport not only of people in imminent danger of life, as happened today , but also of organs and medical teams for transplants. Every year thousands of flight times are carried out by the 31 ° Stormo of Ciampino, the 14 ° Stormo di Pratica di Mare and the 46a Air Brigade of Pisa, are ready 365 days a year, 24 hours on 24, to take off in very short time for any destination in Italy and abroad at the request of Hospitals, Prefectures and, in the case of missions abroad, of diplomatic representations.

During 2017, over 450 flight hours were carried out to provide assistance to more than 200 people in difficulty or in imminent danger of life.
