Banks: ABI, official data indicate that business financing is increasing in November 2017

In relation to Unimpresa's declaration on the evolution of loans to companies, the Deputy General Manager of ABI Gianfranco Torriero preliminarily notes that for a correct comparison of loans granted to families and businesses on an annual basis, it is necessary to take into account, as indicated in the official documents of the Bank of Italy, including loans not recognized in bank balance sheets as securitized and changes must be made net of changes due to exchange rate fluctuations, value adjustments or reclassifications. All this on the basis of the calculation methods defined at a standardized level at European level.

Torriero recalls that, with reference to the trend of loans to companies, the Bank of Italy has published in recent days the Supplement to the Economic Bulletin and the Economic Bulletin which shows that: "The expansion of loans has continued in recent months. to the private sector ". In particular, "In November, loans to the private sector, adjusted to take account of securitization and other loans sold and canceled from bank balance sheets, grew by 1,4 per cent on an annual basis (1,0 per cent in October). Loans to non-financial corporations increased by 0,3 per cent (down by 0,5 per cent in October). "Furthermore, it should be borne in mind that" the increase in demand associated with the recovery in investment continues to counterbalance a high capacity self-financing that keeps the need for external resources low; the latter has also been satisfied in recent months with the use of bond issues ".
