Bologna. Third regional conference on international police cooperation

The "Sala del Monticelli" of the Carabinieri Legion Command "Emilia Romagna" today hosted the third regional conference on international police cooperation, chaired by the Deputy Director General of Public Security, Central Director of the Criminal Police Prefect Vittorio Rizzi.

The event, organized by the Central Direction of the Criminal Police and attended by Prefects, Quaestors, the heads of the Police forces and the judiciary of the Emilia Romagna Region, is part of the cycle of conferences that will involve the whole national territory.

The purpose of the meeting was to outline a summary of operational capabilities, communication channels, interoperability of databases, interconnection with Interpol and Europol Agencies, communication platforms currently available, tools supporting the international investigations and all-round prevention activity implemented by the International Police Cooperation Service.

The new complexity of criminal threats has developed an increasingly global character and the answer cannot be anything other than a network security whose governance is entrusted to the international agencies of which the SCIP is through the Department of Public Security.

In his introductory speech to the work session Prefect Rizzi emphasized: "The importance of being here today, in the House of the Carabinieri of Bologna, indicates the synergy of the structures of the Italian law enforcement, shows the compactness and the contribution that from the territory is given to the superstructures of the Department that transform clues, scents and investigations into international operations.

From the confidential news to the arrest warrant across the border, we arrive with the contribution of all and with the sharing of news and information, through the new channels of communication and interoperability, of which the SOI - International Operating Room of the SCIP is the point of reference.

Our challenges: the transnationality of criminal organizations, the terrorist threat, the trafficking of drugs, arms, people, cybercrime, are contrasted with the strengthening of communication channels, the sharing of common strategies and the information support of international agencies .

The constitution of this "cultural baggage", already available, will lead to an action to combat the increasingly amplified and incisive crime, which is directed towards the creation of operational tools of artificial intelligence capable of returning geo-criminal profiles of the threat and which can provide also a projection of forecast analysis.

The keywords today more than ever are sharing, cooperation, interoperability, innovative thinking, knowledge of phenomena and tools, words that blend in the term trust and in a multidisciplinary and multicultural approach in step with the global push for change of our days, the 2.0 challenge ".
