The network of Maritime and Maritime Museum of Italy is born. In January the Navigante Museum sets sail!

Thus was born the Navigante Museum - an initiative promoted by Mu.MA-Galata of Genoa, il Marine Museum of Cesenatico, the La Nave di Carta della Spezia association and the AMMM-Association of Mediterranean Maritime Museums - which brought together museums, public and private.

From today on Museo Navigante is online - on the site www.museonavigante.it with the cards of the Italian sea museums - and in January 2018, with theYear of the European cultural heritage, will sail, aboard the schooner Holofernes, and it will sail from the Adriatic to the Tyrrhenian Sea, with stops in all the coastal regions, finally arriving at Sète (France) on the occasion of the event Escale à Sète representing Italian museums.

The initiative has joined museums throughout Italy that now have a "port" on the site www.museonavigante.it where information sheets can be consulted, region by region, and where lots of information on the treasures and memories they hold are collected.

"Finally we have an initial survey of Italian and private sea and marine museums, to enrich the Mediterranean Maritime Museums network and the regional networks that are being formed, from Catalan to the Ligurian, from the Gulf of Lion to Campania," says Maria Paola Perfume, president of the AMMM of which the Galata is the leader. «They have been cataloged for four main categories: historical-naval, archaeological, naturalistic and ethnographic. A very rich, diversified and very active panorama emerged. Our goal is to discover and promote the marine heritage, material and intangible: boats, artifacts, relics but also, and above all, memories of work, migrations, of communities that have lived and live by the sea. "

The Navigante Museum has the adhesion of the Marina Militare - custodian of a large part of the national naval and maritime heritage - of the Coast Guard, As well as of Assoporti, the association that brings together the Port System Authorities, of the Italian Naval Register (RINA), Assonautica, Federcoopesca-Confcooperative, Assonat. RTVSan Marino is media partner of the initiative to which many companies in the sector have joined: Contship Italy, Ricci Federico Forniture Navali, La Dragaggi, Insurance OPA e Murcia, publisher of the sea in Italy. Collaborate in the Navigating Museum: Lega Navale, ANMI, UVS-Italian Solid Sailing Union.

"There is a great need to recover and claim the seafaring identity of this country," he says Marco Tibiletti, Chairman of the Paper Ship, an association for the promotion of the culture of the sea that has embarked and sailed more than six thousand children over twenty years "The values of the sea are solidarity, cooperation, respect, tolerance, work, and courage: a great training school for new generations. "On board the Navigating Museum there will also be students from the Italian Nautical Institutes.

"What we want to highlight with the Navigating Museum," he says Davide Gnola, Director of Museum of the Marinery of Cesenatico, awarded in the 2017 among the best Italian museums (ICOM-Italy Award) «is that maritime museums are factors of development in the territories. If we want to improve our offer of cultural tourism, in a country that has eight thousand kilometers of coastline and a centuries-old maritime tradition, we can not neglect our museums and our historic boats ". Past, present and future merge into the Navigante Museum, which, waiting to drop the moorings, is also on social networks: on FB, on Twitter, on Instagram and on Youtube. @ museonavigante.it
