Ponte Morandi, Nasa: "important deformations since 2015"

Exactly one year after the collapse of the #Morandi Bridge in #Genoa, #Nasa reveals an important indiscretion for the investigations still underway. NASA published a study according to which the structure would have started to deform significantly as early as 2015, and then increase the deformation more and more until it collapsed. In particular, the problems increased between March 2017 and August 2018. Among the creators of the NASA studies, anticipated by Corriere della Sera, there is also the geologist Carlo Terranova. The deformation precursor of the Morandi bridge was discovered. We have also shown that from 1992 to 2011 the bridge never moved. The bridge rested on land that may have moved over the years. The satellite is able to see these variations too. According to NASA data, the tragedy could have been avoided. It is a pity that this study was not acquired as a contribution by the Genoa Public Prosecutor's Office, but it is not excluded that it may be used in the future. It is known, however, that the Prosecutor's Office requested satellite data from Asi - the Italian Space Agency -. This information, according to Corriere reports, was provided in the form of four independent studies, carried out by the CNR, a university and two national private companies.

Investigations also on e-mail traffic, text messages and whatsapp messages

The hundreds of emails, sms, chats seized may not be over. Perhaps there is still more that may interest, and not a little, those who have been investigating the collapse of the Morandi bridge for a year. However, this material is not easy to access, because it involves the giants of the web, those with revenues greater than the GDP of a state and boundless power. The prosecutor's idea is that some of the 73 investigated in the investigation into the viaduct tragedy may have used non-"institutional" or non-business email addresses to exchange valuable information about the bridge. After, but also before the collapse. For obvious reasons: beyond what happened last August 14, it is clear that for "confidential" communications no one or almost no one uses the company or ministerial address. And then someone may have deleted interesting material for magistrates and the financial police. And he may have done so before the investigators got their hands on the various electronic devices seized in the various blitzes of the yellow flames on Autostrade, in the companies connected to the dealership but also in the offices of the Ministry of Infrastructure.

The only way to understand if there is more, then, is to access the servers of the large companies that are masters of the network: Google, Microsoft, Facebook (which incorporates the "Messenger" chat) and others.

Almost all of them are based in California, in Silicon Valley. And they are all very well known for the extreme protection of the privacy of their users / customers. Not even the CIA and Trump managed to get information during investigations into terrorists in the US. The only possible move, assessed by the Prosecutor of Genoa, is that of the rogatory in the United States. As other magistrates in Italy have done for various types of investigations. The request is not always accepted by the California federal judge. But above all companies do not always accept. The case of the murder of Gloria Rosboch, the Piedmontese teacher killed in January 2016, is exemplary. The Ivrea Public Prosecutor had asked Google and Facebook for online conversations between the professor and her former student Gabriele Defilippi, who was then sentenced in the first and second degree. After the OK of the California judicial authority, Google had sent the requested material to the Italian magistrates. Facebook, on the other hand, had answered spades: from Silicon Valley they had replied that "the information requested has no relevance to the crime committed" and had sent back only some useless files with Gabriele's latest contacts and little more.
