They had left for a solo excursion to the Monti Lepini, in the province of Rome, but due to the strong heat and high temperatures they lost their bearings and failed to retrace the path that would take them back to their car.

A bad adventure, the one experienced by two Roman men, aged 59 and 52, who were traced, after 6 hours of research, by the Carabinieri of the Compagnia di Colleferro together with the personnel of the Civil Protection of Carpineto Romano and three teams of the Alpine Rescue of Rome, Frosinone and Collepardo.

Amateurs hikers, who started from the Faggetta plain, arrived on Monte Sempervisa - in the territory of Carpineto Romano - around 17 pm and, taken by the sultry heat and cramps, they lost their orientation and contacted a relative for help. After the call received at the operations center of Carabinieri Company of Colleferro, the military set in motion the rescue machine. An 118 helicopter also flies over the research area.

The Carabinieri of the Carpineto Romano station, thanks to their knowledge of the area of the Lepini Mountains, after several hours managed to identify the position in which the two unfortunates were, allowing rapid intervention by the Alpine Rescue and the 118 health workers.
