Yesterday morning, at the Council Chamber of the Municipality of Gorga, the Carabinieri of the local Station, in the presence of the Mayor, the Councilor delegated to Social Policies and the president of the Senior Citizens' Social Center, provided useful advice to the elderly to avoid scams.
The meeting was attended by about 20 people. The event was greatly appreciated by the community of elderly people belonging to the so-called third age because, in addition to the useful advice provided by the Carabinieri, it was also an opportunity to talk to them, who often become victims precisely because of their lower capacity for defense, to compare with the aim of strengthening mutual trust and inducing them to report any attempted scams committed by telephone to the emergency numbers.
The Carabinieri illustrated the main techniques and tricks used by scammers to enter homes, providing them with how to behave in case of suspicious situations. In this regard, they distributed a flyer summarizing the advice containing the emergency numbers to call in case of need.
These meetings on this sensitive issue will continue in the coming days between citizens and the Station Commanders of the Provincial Carabinieri Command of Rome with the aim of encouraging dialogue within the family, between young and old, and implementing preventive awareness especially in the domestic environment.
