Prisons: DAP-fund plan for professional training inmates

17 certified professional training projects and work placements are underway: they will involve 316 prisoners, for a total investment of almost 800 thousand euros. They were approved in recent days by the Board of Directors of Cassa delle Ammende, as part of a Plan for certified professional training and for the expansion of professionalizing job opportunities launched together with the Department of Penitentiary Administration.

The approved courses - all certified - concern the professional qualifications of tailor, electrician, operator of thermo-hydraulic systems, cook, museum reception operator, construction operator, pizza chef, bakery and pasta production operator, industrial and large room cleaning operator, ceramist, pastry chef, upholsterer and operator for filing and digitizing documents.

The choice of the type of courses to be held was made directly by the prisons on the basis of market surveys carried out in the reference area, in order to increase new laboratories and factories or enhance existing ones.

The initiative is in continuity with the 2022-2024 National Program for the social inclusion of people serving sentences, promoted by the Cassa and for which a total allocation of 20 million euro has been allocated.

The systemic action envisages the coverage throughout the national territory of interventions to improve prison conditions and favor the social-work reintegration of people serving sentences, in order to reduce recidivism and improve safety and social cohesion.
