The editorial project will be presented at the 28th edition of Romics, on 10 April 2022

The comic series "Centenario Aeronautica Militare", created by the Historical Office of the Air Force to pay homage to the aviators of yesterday and today in view of the centenary of the Armed Force, will be presented on Sunday 10 April 2022 at the 28th edition of Romics - Festival international comics, animation, cinema and games.

The "100AM" comic series is one of the numerous projects put in place by the Arma Azzurra to celebrate the hundredth anniversary of its foundation, which took place on March 28, 1923.

The 12 graphic novels, which will be gradually published over the next few months, will accompany Italian citizens towards the party of 28 March 2023, an opportunity to spread the values and aeronautical culture on the territory and bring the youngest ones closer to the Armed Force. Precisely with this in mind the idea of a series of comic books was born that makes use of emerging authors, screenwriters, designers, colorists and cover artists, to aim at the generation of the so-called millennials, thanks to the technique of the graphic novel, telling characters and events that characterized the Air Force in its first 100 years of life.

After “Ali su El Alamein”, the first volume of the series released in February by Marco Trecalli, at the 28th edition of Romics, “In volo per la vita”, the second volume of the series, will be presented. It tells the story of three characters: two pilots and an Air Force rescuer on the front line to save lives, told by the pen of the journalist Vincenzo Grienti and illustrated by the cartoonist Katia Ranalli. Both will be present at the presentation event to be held on Sunday 10 April at 11.00-11.50 in Romics City - Hall 7, together with Brigadier General Giovanni Francesco Adamo, Head of the 5th "Communication" Department of the General Staff of the Aeronautica, and to the Art Director of the series, Francesco Archidiacono.

In addition, the designer Andrea Frittella and the colorist Sara Colella, also involved in the editorial project, will participate.

The graphic novel "In volo per la vita" traces, through the memories of the protagonists, news stories of great humanitarian depth: the tragedy of the Norman Atlantic ferry of 28 December 2014 and the flood of Sarno, Quindici, Siano and Bracigliano, which occurred in Campania in May 1998. To these stories are added those of the almost daily missions of emergency medical transport and those of the high bio-containment flights carried out during the Covid-19 emergency.
