"The refusal to authorize the use of chlorpyrifos-methyl, currently the only remedy against the Asian bedbug, is a serious mistake of the EU".
This was stated by Minister Teresa Bellanova, who in Brussels, in recent months, has acted as a spokesman for the needs of the Italian central-north production system seriously affected by the emergency.
“I know well”, says the Minister, “how it is important for our producers and for the entire supply chain to have effective means of phytosanitary defense to control the emergency, at least until alternative measures are available. For this we urgently need a national exemption on which we will have to work with Minister Speranza. The Asian bug is a European emergency, connected as it is to the climate crisis, which is why we are asking Europe for an effort and we are already committed to our offices to negotiate a derogation with Brussels ”.
