After being dragged for a few metres, the soldier stopped the action and, without losing heart, continued chasing the fleeing vehicle with his company car.
After a few kilometres, the 34-year-old, chased by the Carabinieri, lost control again and crashed into the curb of the roundabout in via Carpinetana, near Valle Settedue. The three subjects, who in both cases were not injured, got out of the vehicle and tried to escape on foot again, but were promptly blocked by the Carabinieri.
Conducted to the barracks, the checks carried out jointly with the Carabinieri of the NORM Radiomobile Division revealed that the 34-year-old had a blood alcohol level three times higher than that permitted by the Highway Code. For this reason he was arrested and taken to Velletri prison. He will have to answer for charges of resisting and injuring a public official, as well as driving under the influence.
Road traffic controls by the Colleferro Carabinieri will continue in the next few days and will be intensified, especially at weekends, in the so-called nightlife area frequented by hundreds of young people from neighboring municipalities.
