'Day of Remembrance dedicated to the victims of terrorism', the winning schools of the 'Traces of Memory' competition announced in the Senate

This morning, in the hall of Palazzo Madama, the works of the winning schools of the seventh edition of the National Competition "Traces of Memory" were announced, as part of the Memorial Day dedicated to the victims of terrorism and the massacres of this matrix. 

The ceremony took place in the presence of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, the President of the Senate Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati, the President of the Chamber of Deputies Roberto Fico. The event, broadcast live on RAI 2, was hosted by journalists Maurizio Molinari and Monica Maggioni. The testimonies of some relatives of the victims of terrorism alternated in the hemicycle. 

In a greeting video, the Minister of Education Patrizio Bianchi introduced the works made by the students. 

“I thank the President of the Senate very much for having wanted the schools on this memorial day dedicated to the victims of terrorism. Dedicated to families. To all those who have borne the burden of pain - declared Minister Patrizio Bianchi in his message -. Building the Memory can also allow our boys and our girls, our girls and our boys, to remember those people, those defenders of the State, who with their sacrifice have built and are still building today, in our Memory, the our democracy ". 

"Our schools are present - concluded the Minister - and want to transform this Memory into a continuous flame that must feed the will of our girls and our boys to live together, in peace and solidarity". 

For the secondary school, the ex aequo winners are: the scientific and musical state high school “Farnesina” in Rome - Music section, ensemble music class IN, with the video “It was a day in April. We remember Settimio Passamonti ”; the state high school "Galileo Galilei" of Voghera (PV) - Class V of the Scientific, with the text documents "12 DECEMBER. 17 SCREW. The postcards ”, dedicated to the victims of the Piazza Fontana massacre. 

For the lower secondary school, the “Andrea Zanzotto” Comprehensive Institute of Caneva and Polcenigo (PN) - class III A of the “Giovanni Pascoli” secondary school of Polcenigo, with the video “The solitude of the righteous men. You are not worth a shoe with holes in it ”, dedicated to the memory of judge Mario Amato. 

For primary school, the Comprehensive Institute of Rastignano di Pianoro (BO) - Class VA of the Primary “Rita Levi Montalcini”, with the video “Gocce di memoria”, dedicated to the victims of the Bologna massacre. 

The competition for schools - now in its seventh edition - is promoted by the Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Network of Archives for not forgetting and with the Directorate General for Archives of the Ministry of Culture.
