Communicate the covid19

(by Rosangela Cesareo - Head of Institutional Relations Aidr) We are at war and it is a world war, it is a pandemic. It is pain, it is anguish, it is fear, it is life changed overnight, without warning. Everyday life, projects, commitments, but above all freedom have changed their meaning. Normality appears to be a utopia, the same that almost bored us until a few weeks ago, now we miss it, we miss it madly.

The news on covid19 follow one another without interruption: infections, hospitalizations, intensive care, deaths, ambulances.

Lombardy is the region most affected, mercilessly, mourns its citizens who leave this land alone, because any contact is prohibited. The doctors and all the sanitary workers are in the trenches, fighting against an invisible and unscrupulous enemy, a tremendous enemy, the most terrible.

Now that the earth is trembling under our feet, now that we are desperately trying to understand what is happening, as never before there is need for a clear, true communication that addresses all Italians.

In the face of a huge catastrophe like this, also the communication sector, let's be honest, he found himself unprepared.

Too many distorted messages have been launched, half-truths, omissions, incorrect modalities both in how, where and when. At some point, even those who live news felt lost and unable to see the truth.

This is not the time to make controversy for charity, but to improve, but above all to give, each in its own small way, its own contribution. So whoever speaks to the people, to the people, to the nation must be clear, real, concrete and above all give answers. The fear of alarmism cannot and must not generate superficiality, as has unfortunately happened.

And the more this bad experience teaches us is that it is better to alarm and prevent rather than try to face an enemy who has been able to bring us to our knees.

No more superficiality in communicating by those who do it by profession and by those who govern us. The people need to be guided especially in catastrophes, the people must never feel lost.
