Bilateral meeting between the Minister of Justice, Carlo Nordio, and his Algerian counterpart, Abderrachid Tabi, on the edge of the Palermo International Conference on the 20 years of the UN Convention for the fight against organized crime.
The two ministers had - within the framework of the excellent relations between the two countries - an exchange of notes, the last step before the entry into force of the extradition treaty already signed in 2003.
The agreement subordinates the surrender of the extradited person to the condition that the death penalty is never applied to the convicted person, where provided for by the legislation of the country of origin, or that the same, even if pronounced, is not carried out.
