Israeli-Palestinian conflict: Kushner and Greenblatt in Egypt for talks

According to the Egyptian state newspaper "Al Ahram", the son-in-law and adviser to US President Donald Trump, Jared Kushner, and the White House Special Envoy for the Middle East, Jason Greenblatt, arrived today in Egypt for the last stop on a regional tour that has already touched Saudi Arabia.

The meeting, aimed at discussing a plan for an Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement, announced several times by Trump, also addressed "the need to facilitate humanitarian relief in densely populated Gaza," ruled by the Palestinian militant group Hamas and collapsed into a profound humanitarian crisis, especially after the flare-up of violence with Israelis.

The meeting was attended by Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and Chief of General Intelligence Abbas Kamel.

The visit to the region could include other countries as well as Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Israel.
