Conte announces summit on Libya and also invites Trump

Giuseppe Conte, president of the Council, announces a new conference on Libya to be held in Italy this autumn. An important event that aims to follow up on that of Paris by involving all the actors who are in Libya.

Conte explained that the Italian government warns "the need to involve all the Libyan authorities involved in some way affected and all the protagonists, all the actors who are in Libya and who play a role in Libya but also many countries including of course the States US.

Referring then to the elections in Libya Conte said that it would be better not to arrive too early. The Italian premier explained that if Libya voted now it would create "total chaos, history teaches us that we must create the political and economic conditions for the country to regulate the impact of a democratic system".

The prime minister from Brussels also issued statements on the issue of spending on NATO, and stated that "Italy has inherited commitments to spend on the contribution to NATO that we have not altered, so no additional costs" he added that "The problem of Italy's contribution, as well as individual partners, is complex. There's a Defense investment pledge launched in Wales in the 2014, on three levels. There is not only the economic contribution but also, among other things, the contribution in interventions, participations and missions: Italy participates in missions that it considers strategic and significant. We aim to enhance this type of contribution ".
