Personal surveys prove him right, he has just exceeded 70 percent approval. The Italians see him as a “qualified” and authoritative figure to lead the country. Perhaps it was the recent success in the negotiations with Brussels for the economic maneuver and for having avoided the infringement procedure or the calmness and style that make him a truly institutional and very welcome figure. Conte's objectives, Il Messaggero writes, could be to try to revive the government alliance between 5 Stars and the Lega and consequently strengthen its executive. The premier's double move caught the communication sherpas of Palazzo Chigi unprepared, even Rocco Casalino who immediately reiterated: «Conte is like that, he is always open to discussion and proposals. It is his character, you will see, he will change his approach ».
It is no coincidence that a note immediately emerged from Palazzo Chigi that substantially revises Conte's sentences: «The government reshuffle is a non-existent hypothesis. The Prime Minister himself stated: “If and when the problem arises, we will evaluate it, but we are in the hypothetical period of the third, fourth or fifth degree” ”.
However, the note from Palazzo Chigi did not mention two other passages from the Prime Minister's speech. The one in which Conte set the conditions for the reshuffle: "If this need matures within one of the political forces, I hope for a path of rationality that does not destabilize the government." And above all the long statement where he talks about Salvini's idea of revising the government contract: «The possibility of a coupon cannot be excluded. When making a journey together, it is good to stop every now and then to reflect, see what can be done better, also increase the initial program with new measures in the light of new sensitivities that may emerge ».
The M5S does not want to put hands on the contract and does not want to talk about reshuffle even if the balance of power after the vote of 4 March, 32% for 5Stelle and 17% for the League have changed dramatically with the League over 30% and the grills between the 25 and the 27%.
