School contract, signed the integration proposed by Valditara

300 million more for salaries in the Education and Research sector

On the proposal of the Minister of Education and Merit Giuseppe Valditara, the Act addressing the agreement signed with the trade unions last November 10 on the subject of increasing the salaries of school personnel was integrated. This integration makes an additional approximately 300 million euros, allocated by the 2022 budget law on the Fund for the Improvement of Training Offers (FMOF), available for negotiation between ARAN and trade union organizations for the renewal of the National Collective Labor Agreement in the Education sector and Research. These 300 million will be used to increase the fixed component of the salary of the school staff.

This is a new concrete act by the Government in line with the political commitment to find new resources for education in the finance law: after having achieved, at the end of last year, the release of arrears (on average 2.000 euros per employee ), with these new resources, the average increase in salaries, already approved at the end of 2022, will rise from 100 to 124 euros per month. The goal is, after many years of stagnation, to start a progressive improvement of salaries in the school sector and to support specific personnel policies aimed at strengthening orientation and countering dropouts, within the ambit of a new school model centered on merit.

Furthermore, the definition of the criteria for distributing resources for the valorisation of teachers is also entrusted to negotiation, in order to guarantee didactic continuity for students, with specific attention to state institutes on small islands.

“We have fulfilled the commitment we had made in politics and with the school staff. The enhancement of school workers is one of our missions, because there can be no Merit without Dignity, which must also be safeguarded through the increase in resources intended to improve wages throughout the school sector”, commented Minister Giuseppe Valditara. "This result is the result of a healthy relationship between the Government and the trade union organizations, based on a constructive and pragmatic dialogue: this is what I mean by the Great Alliance, the collaboration between institutions, social partners, school workers, students and families" .
