Copasir: Expresses concern about Chinese technology

The Republic's Parliamentary Security Committee (Copasir) has repeatedly expressed its concerns in relation to the use of Chinese technology in the field of TLC. Concerns expressed both with a substantial and qualified document sent to Parliament and with public solicitations to the Government so that they would be taken seriously and consequent decisions of the executive body.

With reference to the broader question of the interests of Chinese companies in national strategic assets, Copasir, in its institutional function, has already, in the first week of August, acquired a summary document, from the intelligence bodies, on the interests expressed by companies Chinese towards the strategic area of ​​Taranto or the ILVA industrial plants and the assignment of the management of the port of the Apulian city. This report and the consequent insights will be discussed by the Committee in the first useful session.

In the resumption of work, Copasir plans to close the series of hearings on the banking-insurance system and will identify the form of the contribution to be submitted to Parliament on this very topical issue which at this particular moment, in its various facets, inevitably intercepts the interest and the structural sustainability, also from a perspective, of the country system.

Copasir will also take action to take stock of the hottest scenarios of the moment such as Libya and Lebanon. The Parliamentary Committee for the Security of the Republic will continue, due to its competences, to work with the utmost commitment to defend the national interest as well. as it has done so far (from March to June, or in the most critical moment of the pandemic, Copasir physically met in 22 sessions) appreciating the very high quality collaboration of the Italian intelligence system on traditional and most innovative issues.
