The pressure on hospitals continues to drop
The Department continues its efforts in coordinating all the components and operating structures of the National Civil Protection Service.
In particular, in the field of health monitoring related to the spread of Coronavirus on our territory, to date, May 16, the total number of people who have contracted the virus is 224.760 with an increase compared to yesterday of 875 new cases.
The total number of currently positive is 70.187, with a decrease of 1.883 clients compared to yesterday.
Among the currently positive, 775 are being treated in intensive care, with a decrease of 33 patients compared to yesterday.
10.400 people are hospitalized with symptoms, a decrease of 392 patients compared to yesterday.
59.012 people, equal to 84% of the currently positive, are in isolation without symptoms or with mild symptoms.
Compared to yesterday, 153 died and bring the total to 31.763. The overall number of those discharged and recovered rises to 122.810, with an increase of 2.605 people compared to yesterday.
In detail, the currently positive cases are 27.679 in Lombardy, 10.702 in Piedmont, 5.852 in Emilia-Romagna, 4.162 in Veneto, 2.943 in Tuscany, 2.533 in Liguria, 4.022 in Lazio, 2.657 in the Marche, 1.710 in Campania, 2.104 in Puglia, 345 in the Autonomous Province of Trento, 1.659 in Sicily, 680 in Friuli Venezia Giulia, 1.423 in Abruzzo, 343 in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, 81 in Umbria, 415 in Sardinia, 75 in Valle d'Aosta, 474 in Calabria, 215 in Molise and 113 in Basilicata.
