A new Vaccinal Defense Presidium (PVD) has been operational since yesterday morning in Milan, at the Command of the 1st Air Region of the Italian Air Force, as part of the support that the armed forces are providing throughout the national territory to the health authorities locals. The new site for Covid-19 vaccinations, organized on six stations open from 8 to 14 from Monday to Friday, is entirely managed by medical and nursing staff of the Air Force, which for some days has also been involved in home vaccinations for the elderly , non-transportable and vulnerable people.
On the other hand, from Friday 16 April, at the military base of Villafranca di Verona, a further Defense Vaccinal Presidium (PVD) created and managed by the 3rd Wing of the Air Force, initially prepared for the administration of vaccines to the personnel of the Department and police forces of the province of Verona, and now converted and usable also to the civilian population of the neighboring municipalities at the base.
The opening of the Milan and Verona Villafranca PVDs is part of the activities to combat the spread of Covid19 which is added to the numerous initiatives envisaged by the EOS operation, commissioned by the Minister of Defense Lorenzo Guerini and directed by the Operational Command of the Joint Forces Summit .
The two PVDs opened in these days are added to the activities already started in the previous weeks at the Vaccinal Defense Presidium located within the Volunteer School of the Air Force of Taranto and the activities of the Mobile Vaccinal Defense Presidium of the 2 ° Stormo di Rivolto , for the home administration of vaccines to vulnerable people or people who cannot be transported residing in the province of Udine.
A commitment, that of the Italian Air Force for Operation EOS, which sees at the forefront the facilities and staff of the Pratica di Mare airport, designated as the national storage and conservation hub for the anti-Covid19 vaccination campaign, as well as crews and aircraft for transporting the doses to the most distant locations in the country.
