Covid-19, over 92% of banks in Italy adhere to the Abi convention

Over 92% (in terms of total assets) of banks in Italy adhere to the Abi convention which allows workers suspended from work due to the COVID-19 emergency to receive an advance from banks on the ordinary treatments of income integration and redundancy fund in derogation provided for in the “cure-Italy” law decree with respect to the payment of the INPS.

The list of participating banks is available on the ABI website (www.abi.it).

ABI has agreed on simplified procedures for disbursing the advance payment (€ 1.400), taking into account the maximum duration of the wage supplement - 9 weeks - defined by the “care-Italy” Law Decree, in consideration of the immediate needs of workers suspended from work.

The agreement also favors the management of "remote" practices, so as to limit access to the branch to indifferent needs, in line with what has been agreed between ABI and the banking union unions Fabi, First-Cisl, Fisac-Cgil, Uilca and Unisin lo last March 24, 2020. For this reason, it is recommended that the workers concerned contact their bank by phone so that it is not necessary to go to the bank to receive the amount on the current account.
