New Army post for Drive-Through pads in the military city of Cecchignola

Approximately 1.400 units, spread over 200 teams and capable of performing up to 30.000 swabs per day, will be operational starting next weekend.

This is the contribution of Operation "Igea", conducted by inter-force teams made up of personnel from the Army and other Armed Forces, which the Ministry of Defense has made available to citizens throughout the country to increase the country's daily capacity to carry out tampons.

In particular, from this morning, in via dei Bersaglieri alla Cecchignola, the first station made available by the Italian Army to carry out oropharyngeal swabs to search for the new coronavirus in "Drive through" mode is active: it is accessed directly by car, without get out of your car.

This structure, set up and managed by the Army Logistic Command, provides for a device in which doctors and nurses from the "Celio" Military Polyclinic of Rome and the Military Department of Forensic Medicine of Rome will be employed, with the logistical support of the staff of 8 ° Transport Regiment "Casilina", will also operate in synergy with the Health Authorities of the Lazio Region, which will intervene, in the coming days, with their own health workers.

The “Drive through” area has been conceived with multiple internal junctions so that it can hold about 400 cars without affecting the external road network. The Army device will be operational every day (including holidays) and will allow a significant increase in the activity of tracking the circulation of the virus.

The Army has been in the field since the beginning of this epidemiological emergency and has made available, right from the start, all the skills and means necessary for the management and containment of the virus. Even in this phase, the men and women of the Armed Force will continue to work in the service of citizens.
