Crime in Europe and covid-19 - meeting of the European police force

Covid 19 - Meeting between the heads of the Police Forces of Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Holland, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, with Italy and Europol called to direct the work  

The meeting on the crime emergency following the pandemic caused by Covid 19 in Europe is underway, with the participation of the countries most affected by the spread of the virus.

It was Italy that promoted the meeting to field a wider exchange of information in a preventive key.

On the agenda are the risks of infiltration of organized crime into the legal economy and organizational and management measures to deal with the impact of the pandemic on the activity of the police force. To represent the Italian law enforcement the Prefect Vittorio Rizzi, Deputy General Manager of the Department of Public Security.

During the work, Prefect Rizzi presented the permanent monitoring body for the analysis of the risk of infiltration of organized crime in the legal economy due to the economic crisis following the pandemic. Italy was the only country that immediately set up a control room to monitor any risk indicators and take preventive action. A body strongly desired by the Minister of the Interior Luciana Lamorgese and the Chief of Police Franco Gabrielli.

"This is a global emergency that requires a shared, coordinated and global response", said Prefect Rizzi.

In presenting the experience of the Italian organism for monitoring the risks of infiltration of organized crime in the legal economy, Prefect Rizzi specified how the experiences of all the Italian Police Forces (State Police) are presented in the control room , Arma dei Carabinieri, Guardia di Finanza and Penitentiary Police, as well as DIA AND DCSA) according to a model for sharing information on activities and strategies for crime prevention and contrast. The information exchange between the Police Forces is a virtuous model of the Italian security system which has a single top body in the Department of Public Security and a single national Public Security Authority represented by the Minister of the Interior.
