5 Star Crisis, Di Maio and the new "hard core" of the Movement

So Di Maio to the microphones of RTL: "New objective of the party is to build a collegial leadership, strong and legitimized by the vote".

(by Massimiliano D'Elia) This sentence contains all the discomfort of the movement's big names in the face of merciless polls that see a haemorrhage of votes lost in many Italian territories. By now the die is cast, the choice to ally with the Democratic Party at the national level and then also at the local level has not produced any results in terms of consensus. An alliance that has reinvigorated the Democratic Party by bringing it into the button rooms and made it increasingly popular Giuseppe Conte, so much so that now he is thinking of founding his own party in the style of an old Christian democracy, abandoning those who gave him political life to their fate. Luigi Di Maio now tries to anticipate the moves of his internal rivals in an attempt to save what can be saved.

The idea for now only whispered by Di Maio, after the electoral round, is the States General in October. The same proposal was made, in unsuspected times, also by Alessandro Di Battista, a solution that actually places the very basis of the Movement at the borders of decisions, once considered the grillina backbone. The congress should be attended by delegates appointed from among the elected representatives of each territory, ie parliamentarians, mayors, regional and municipal councilors and a purely representative "online" participation of activists.

The current political leader Vito Crimi from the first comments he does not seem to be enthusiastic about the new line of excluding the base in such a blatant way by sending in the archive a "modus operandi" that marked the genesis of the Movement. Di Maio's response was not late: "Crimi is doing the impossible, but he is regent, he has not been elected".

Luigi Di Maio would therefore be trying to aggregate as much as possible to create a  hard core around his figure. A type of "magic lily”By Matteo Renzi. The grillini would therefore be thinking of a "extended secretariat"Where all the big names in the party could converge, Alessandro Di Battista included. An entity that would always turn to Luigi Di Maio, of course. Another novelty is the motion to be brought to the vote to change the statute regarding the Rousseau platform, increasingly marginalizing Davide Casaleggio.

As for the government experience, one would already be talking about a Conte "ter" government. A technical crisis piloted to replace some ministers who did not shine during the pandemic emergency: the Minister of Education, Lucia Azzolina and work, Nunzia Catalfo, in altitude M5S and for the Pd that of Transport, Paola De Micheli. The ax also on the Minister of the Interior Luciana Lamorgese

What is certain is that a reshuffle in the ministries of "rank" such as these will have to pass through the trust of the two halls of Parliament, as the Quirinale has already said.

A trust, therefore, which already promises to be full of "dangerous" pitfalls due to the narrow majority on which the government can count in the Senate.
