The 11th International Congress of Aeronautical and Space Medicine will take place in Rome from 14 to 2017 September 65 (65th International Congress of Aviation and Space Medicine - (ICASM 2017) which involves the participation of more than 400 scientists and experts in the aero-medical sector from over 80 countries.
The global aviation community will discuss both the well-being of the millions of passengers traveling daily on board commercial aircraft, as well as the aeromedical problems of industry professionals, pilots and crews, both military and civil, to increase flight safety more and more. A specific session will be devoted to aeronautical cardiology and aeromedical risk assessment in flight of pilots and crews related to cardiovascular diseases that are now the first cause of death in the general population in the western world.
There will also be a day dedicated to the Technical Tours in which the host nation shows the excellence in the aeronautical and space sector both from a medical and technical-industrial point of view. There is no doubt that the transport by air in complete bio-containment of highly infectious patients on special air-transportable stretchers is a national excellence and, in particular, of the Air Force and will be illustrated to the participants in Pratica di Mare on the morning of Wednesday 13 September.
The Congress will be preceded, on 10 September, by the inauguration of the "Futurist Skies" exhibition dedicated to the movement called Aeropainting, very active in the 30s, which will be held in the halls of Palazzo Aeronautica for the duration of the Congress. The scientific works will instead take place at the National Research Council with an opening ceremony on 11 September 2017 at 08.45 in the presence of civil and military authorities. After the greetings of the Authorities, there will be the traditional delivery of the scientific prize "I Guidoniani", dedicated to the pioneers of aerospace medicine of the last century and awarded to the best original works in aeronautical and space medicine (awarded by AIMAS - Italian Association of Aeronautical Medicine and Space) and air traffic control medicine (assigned by ANACNA - National Association of Air Navigation Assistants and Controllers).
