This morning, with the Ceremony of the Flagging Ceremony, officially began the "live" phase of the International Griffin Aid and Rescue Exercise organized annually by the Air Force under the SAR Agreement. Med. Occ (Western Mediterranean Search and Rescue).

The flight crews and the Armed Forces, Armed Forces and other participating Italian and foreign administrations, at the Airport Detachment in Dobbiaco (BZ), participated in the introductory briefing conducted by the Exercise Director about training activities.

From 25 August to 1 last September, the 3 ° Stormo of Villafranca (VR) and the 4 ^ Air Force Telecommunications and Systems for Borgo Piave (LT) Air Force prepared all logistic / operational and communication structures necessary for carrying out activities, including the control tower and the Base Base Coordinating Center (PBA) from which all research and rescue operations are planned and managed, in coordination with the staff of the National Alpine Rescue Body and Speleological (CNSAS), responsible for ground activities.

In addition, a small field hospital is already active, managed by medical personnel of the Air Force and by the Auxiliary Corps of Voluntary Nurses of the Italian Red Cross, which will serve both as an advanced medical station within the training scenario, and as a first aid station. assistance in case of real needs.

The presence of personnel and equipment from other countries adhering to the Agreement - Armée de l'Air (France), as well as foreign observers who will contribute to the exchange of experiences and the development of common procedures between the various military and civil components that constitute the task force of rescuers, a fundamental integration capability for a complex activity such as search and rescue in the mountain environment.

The "Grifone" is an international, inter-operative and interagency exercise organized annually by the Military Air Force with the aim of consolidating the ability to plan and conduct complex aviation operations as a result of an aeronautical accident on land through the carrying out of activities research and rescue services both day and night in a mountainous and impervious environment in order to increase knowledge of common procedures in national and international fields, thus achieving optimum use of all available forces in the field of air search and rescue.
