Deficit / GDP at 2,4% only for 2019. Following the indications of the Eurogroup and Salvini, "I only speak to sober people"

After a majority summit it was decided that the deficit-GDP ratio remains at 2,4% for this year. The Government has probably accepted the suggestions of the Eurogroup and above all of the ECB Governor Mario Draghi, for a decrease in debt in the years following 2019, thanks to the "growth" that should exist and to the cuts in waste. On Monday the Minister of Economy, Giovanni Tria, following the meeting of the Eurogroup in Luxembourg, reported to Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and his fellow ministers the outcome of the talks with the European commissioners, who made it clear that the Italian accounts risk rejection (it would be the first time for a European Union state). So, apparently, exceeding the value of 2,4% of the GDP deficit is just an initiative relegated to this year. It was Luigi Di Maio who anticipated the measures decided by specifying that "other details will be further defined", during the meeting on the Update of the Def that should be sent to the Chambers tomorrow.

Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini did not miss his contribution, fueling further tensions with Brussels. In particular Matteo Salvini addressed the president of the EU Commission Jean-Claude Juncker, "I only speak with sober people", the reference is to the alleged alcoholism of the president of the European Commission.

Giuseppe Conte has had to launch messages of détente to dilute the statements / invective launched by the two vicepremiers who have had the sole result of unnerving the markets.

“This is a serious, rational and courageous maneuver. We confirm the program of announced reforms that will start as early as 2019. The decline in the debt / GDP ratio must be accelerated significantly over the three-year period ".

Yesterday was marked by the "critical" value of the spread that danced around 300 points. From March to today, thanks to the spread of the spread (most often caused by inappropriate government statements), around 30 billion have been lost.
