Mexico at high temperatures: Magaldi Power wins supplies for the "Carbon Dos" thermoelectric plant

Thanks to two bonds issued by UniCredit and guaranteed by SACE, the Campania company has signed a contract for the total value of 19 million euro

UniCredit and SACE SIMEST, the export and internationalization of the CDP Group, support the international growth of Magaldi Power, a Campania company specialized in the production of industrial machinery and plants for the transport of high-temperature materials.

As part of the transaction, UniCredit issued two bonds guaranteed by SACE, relating to the correct execution of the contract and the repayment of the advances paid - which allowed Magaldi Power to win the supply, the total value of 19 million euros, two plants for the extraction and transport of ashes for two production units of the "Carbon Dos" thermal power plant located in the State of Cohauila in Mexico.

The operation was coordinated by the Corporate Area Campania Sud, Basilicata and Calabria of UniCredit with offices in Salerno and the SACE offices in Naples. A consolidated collaboration between SACE and the Salerno group, which has allowed the company, also active in Italy with cutting-edge projects, to expand its export destinations. Magaldi has also recently benefited from the support of SIMEST for a loan aimed at strengthening its presence in the US market, a hub for commercial exchanges in Canada and Mexico. Through this operation SACE SIMEST confirms its support to the companies of Campania, the engine for the exports of Southern Italy. Through the Naples office, in the last year alone, the Pole has served more than 1000 client companies, mobilizing resources for around 180 million.

"Since the 90 years, Mexico has been a land of great opportunities for the Magaldi Group and the Carbon II project represents such an excellent example, being the largest single contract ever signed by a group company - said Simone Savastano, Sales Director Stem and Mexico Division of Magaldi Power -. Beyond the undoubted value in economic terms, the assignment of the contract to our company represents an important confirmation of the absolute quality of the technological solutions we proposed, all patented and produced in-house by Magaldi ".

Founded in 1929, the Magaldi Group is a world leader in the research and production of conveyor belts for high temperature materials and in severe process conditions used in thermoelectric power plants, foundries, steelworks, mineral processing plants, cement plants, waste-to-energy plants and plants biomass. The Group, which has 250 proprietary patents registered all over the world and has supplied more than 1.200 installations in 39 countries in 5 continents, has always been careful to seize new growth opportunities on foreign markets and in recent years has stood out for its development of cutting-edge projects in the renewable energy sector, developing and patenting in Sicily the first CSP plant (solar thermodynamic concentration) in the world, which uses sand as a means of accumulation of energy generated by irradiation. The company, which has offices in the United States, Australia, India and Germany, provides solutions around the world based on a wide range of patented technologies that ensure high reliability, longer life, minimal maintenance, water saving and power.

Mexico, a country of opportunities

Mexico is experiencing a phase of great economic development: already the first reference market in Latin America for Italian exports, it is one of the countries with good opportunities even in the medium-long term. In 2017, the total of goods exported to the country amounted to 4,3 billion euros and Italian exports recorded broad growth rates (+ 15,1%). Positive performance is also expected for the next four years (+ 7,1% on an annual average) and this will bring ample scope for action for foreign companies interested in investing in the country, with the best opportunities both in traditional sectors (oil & gas and manufacturing) and in other sectors of the economy (clothing, telecommunications, tourism).
