MIPAAF, export made in Italy agri-food: in 2017 exceeded 41 billions of euros

The Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies announces that, on the basis of ISTAT data on foreign trade today, Made in Italy agri-food exports have concluded 2017 with the record of 41 billions of euro (+ 7% compared to 2016) , registering in December 3,4 billions of euros (+ 2% compared to December 2016).

In particular, exports to Russia (+ 24%), China (+ 14,8%) and France (+ 8%) increase.

"Over 41 billion euros of agro-food exports. Never before now - says Minister Maurizio Martina - Italy had achieved such a result. The merit of our companies, small, medium and large that have been able to look at the world, have been able to bring the Made in Italy outside our borders. We have been at their side in these years. With the extraordinary stage of Expo, with the internationalization plan desired by the Government, with the unique brand for the Italian food industry that now characterizes us in all the most important world fairs. With a diplomatic job that has led us to reopen many markets that were previously precluded from Italian exports, as happened with cold cuts in the United States or with pork in China. New opportunities that benefit all farmers, breeders and producers. Which are the backbone of the economy of our territories, which are the protagonists of the productive and occupational relaunch we are experiencing. They are our heritage and we must defend them to the end. Also enhancing more and more the origin on the labels, as we did for cheese, pasta, rice, tomato derivatives. I am convinced that this choice is one of the most advanced frontiers of a cultural political conception that tries to interpret new ways of protection in globalization. "Made in Italy" - concludes Martina - truly protects itself by bringing exports to 50 billion within the 2020, not with tariffs and barriers from electoral propaganda ".

FOCUS ON INTERNATIONAL MARKETS REOPENED FROM 2014 TO TODAY

From the 2014 to today there are many markets reopened thanks to the diplomatic work of Mipaaf with the Ministries of Health and Economic Development which has led to the removal of non-tariff barriers on Made in Italy agri-food products.

In the United States of America the 2015 has been opened the importation of Italian cured meats and the export of pears and apples.

In China, the ban on Italian pork was removed in 2016, which kept that market from 1999. Ok from the Chinese authorities also to exports of citrus and kiwi from Italy.

In Japan, the green light for beef imports was obtained, after a stop that lasted from 2001 following the BSE epidemic. Free way also to Arance Tarocco, Moro and Sanguinello.

Italian kiwis can also be exported today to South Korea, Chile and Canada. Precisely the Canadian institutions have given permission to enter table grapes and plums.

With Morocco and Algeria the problems that blocked Italian nurserymen in the sale of vine and fruit propagating material have been solved.
