Eni: to study with INA interconnection of gas transport between Italy and Croatia

Eni and the Croatian company INA (INDUSTRIJA NAFTE) today signed a bilateral cooperation agreement (Memorandum of Understanding) to evaluate the opportunity to realize an interconnection between Italy and Croatia for the transport of natural gas.

The initiative aims to leverage the existing infrastructure, now used for offshore gas production in the upper Adriatic Sea, to create an interconnection for the transportation of gas between the two countries.

The interconnection will increase the degree of integration, security of supply, competitiveness and sustainability of the Croatian market, but also of the Italian one given the bidirectional nature of the infrastructure.

Furthermore, the development of this initiative will contribute to consolidating Italy's position as a gas hub in Europe.
