Eni announces an important oil discovery in the Angolan offshore

Eni announces a new and important oil discovery with the Agogo exploration prospectus, in the 15 / 06 Block in the deep waters of the Angola offshore. The discovery is estimated to contain between the 450 and the 650 million barrels of oil in place with additional potential.

The Agogo-1 exploration well, located at about 180 km from the coast and about 20 km west from the FPSO N'Goma (West Hub), was drilled by the Poseidon drilling vessel in a water depth of 1636 meters, reaching a total depth of 4450 meters.

Agogo-1 NFW encountered a single light mineralized oil column (31 API °) of 203m thick and 120m of net reservoir, below saline diapers in sandstones of the Early Miocene age with excellent petrophysical properties. An intense data acquisition campaign was carried out in the well which indicated a production capacity of the well above the 20.000 barrels of oil / day.

Agogo is the third commercial discovery made by the resumption, in 2018, of exploratory drilling by the 15 / 06 block consortium, after those announced on the elevations of Kalimba and Afoxé.

The discovery opens up new opportunities for oil exploration in prospects under saline diapers in the western part of the prolific 15 / 06 Block, opening up further opportunities for new value creation. The identification and drilling of the Agogo prospect was possible thanks to sophisticated Eni proprietary seismic imaging technologies.

The Joint Venture of Block 15/06, formed by Eni (operator, with 36,8421%), Sonangol P&P (with 36.8421%) and SSI Fifteen Limited (with 26.3158%), will plan the activities to delineate the discovery studies to accelerate its development.

Angola is a key country for Eni's organic growth strategy. The company has been present in the country since the 1980 and today has an equity production of 155.000 equivalent oil barrels per day. In the 15 / 06 Block Eni operates two FPSOs (N'Goma in the West Hub and Olombendo in the East Hub) which currently produce 160.000 barrels of oil per 100%. Eni is also the operator of the Cabinda Norte block in the Angolan onhore.
